Some (green) inspiration

According to my last post, I'm doing baby steps to help me get back on track so that's what I'm doing.  I'm starting small. Real small!  Instead of trying to change all the bad to good that I eat, I decided that I need to cut down on eating out.  I figure I eat restaurant/fast food at least 4 days a week so by cutting that down to just 2 days a week - 1 day if I'm lucky - not only will I be saving calories, but I'll be saving money too!

To keep me motivated in the kitchen Anthony and I decided to start a small herb garden on our apartment lanai (patio)!  This way - if the herbs survive and grow - I'll have to use them or lose them. Plus they make our lanai smell so good!

From the top (going clockwise): sage, thyme, lemon thyme, sweet basil, and oregano.
Don't be fooled - this pot is pretty big and must be about 5 or 6 gallons!

Left to right: super chili pepper, Italian parsley, celery leaf, and garlic chives.

I bought these over the weekend and transplanted them into the pots and so far they have taken well.  The junk thing is I need to rotate the pots every day or two to keep the plants from leaning towards the sun light. They get about 6 - 8 hours of direct sun light (which I thought would be enough) but they still lean.  Oh well, the better flavors and tastier recipes that will come out of this will be worth it.

Now it's time to work on my baby steps to consistent exercise...

I just came across your health and fitness blog. Your article about taking baby steps toward better nutrition was especially interesting. I especially liked your comments about inspiring yourself to eat better by growing some green vegetables of your own, what a great idea! I am adding you to my favorites. Since you and your readers are interested in health and fitness, we thought you would like to check out our ab workout machine called The AbStand.
