Motivational Mondays: OMG!

Saw this preview and loved it - did you see the part where Jamie Oliver is tearing up after the lunch-lady scene?! I just hope it's not too 'Biggest Loser-y'. I have high hopes for this show not because I'm a fan of Jamie or reality shows, but because of the point I hope this show will make. Yes, exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle but that's all it is... a part. The other part is nutrition and from my experience, getting healthy is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition. The standard American diet is pretty unhealthy (we aren't the fattest nation for no reason) but I blame a lot of the cause on the government... but that's a WHOLE 'nother post in itself! I'm just hoping Jamie can do for our country what he's done for the UK.

"Jamie's Food Revolution" will start to air in March on ABC.

OH MY GOD that is freakin' AWESOME! I totally agree with you. I love the message that it has to deliver but I hope it doesn't turn into a Biggest Loser or an American Idol kind of thing.

I am so excited for this show! I love Jamie Oliver, and I was so excited when I heard he was coming to the US. I just can't wait till it starts in earnest. The only downside: I have no idea how I'm going to manage to watch American Idol and Biggest Loser and Jamie's show. Just too much TV!

OH does this mean it's really happening? I thought I read that the town threw him out? I love Jamie Oliver. His food is simple and amazing (health food without being health food). I can't wait to see this!

So i have to correct my earlier comment. I found the article I read before http://www.slashfood.com/2010/01/19/americas-fattest-city-makes-the-naked-chef-weep/

They just made him cry, not quit. So curious to see this!

It will be interesting to watch. I'm with you in hoping it won't be too TBLish & will be more centered in reality, showing us what is really happening from the resistance (ya know it is gonna happen) to the changes, etc... What will be most interesting to me, as a parent, is how the kids take to the changes from their usual meals.
My oldest will be going to school next year & I can say for certain that she'll be bringing her lunch for this very reason. I've seen the school menus...really? This is the best they can do for our kids? Terrible.

WOW! The saddest part of that was hearing the people's responses about how he can't change the town. However, hearing from a doctor that your child may not survive his 40s will really open your eyes. I hope he can pull this off and I hope the people stick with it after he leaves. It's really scary that teenagers and young kids are showing signs of type 2 diabetes. What is this world coming to? LOL

Hey, check out "Ministry of Food" by Jaime. I was NOT a fan of Jaime at all, seeing him on TV made me mad because his style of cooking was ridiculous and stupid. It looked fake, telling everyone how easy cooking was - I'm in the kitchen 4 times a day cooking for my family of five, I know that cooking is NOT easy.

This book "Ministry of food" totally changed the way I cook, and I have gotten so much better! It's the way he words things and it's amazing. Now I love Jaime, even if his stupid accent still bugs me (I'm in love with an Aussie, what can I say:)

On another subject - you're kicking ass girlfriend! Keep it up, but watch out for injury. You're not superwoman, even if you're acting like it :) Which you are - acting like it. Be good to yourself :) Hugs!

Sorry, forgot to mention that "Ministry of Food" is a BOOK by Jamie. A Great book. Full of brilliant recipes and brilliant cooking technique - Main topic: "Simplicity".
