Weigh-in Wednesdays: 135.2 BOO!

Last Wed. weight: 133.8
Today's weight:
135.2
Lost: +1.4

TOTAL Lost: -41.20

So weight's back up to 135 this morning even though I showed a weight of 133.8 last Friday. Apparently, I was back in Hawaii but my brain and stomach were still in Vegas so I ate pretty bad and didn't exercise AT ALL since I got back last Thursday. G.R.E.A.T!

I always thought this process was going to get easier the more I did it, but I still find it hard to convince myself to exercise and eat right. When does this turn into a "lifestyle change" rather than something I try to do everyday? I need to go back and take another look at my goals and reevaluate how I'm gonna reach them. Just focusing on calories in/out has got me stressed more than anything.

When I was in Vegas and didn't count anything, I was in a totally different state of mind... it's been over a year since I didn't count calories and it was super liberating. FOR REAL! I think I might have to focus on something else to get this weight down.

Since I've been on this journey to lose weight, it's mostly been about calories in and calories out. So I've learned portion control and which foods give me the best bang per calorie, but other than that I've never tried anything else. Meaning I've never done the low-carb thing, or the no meat thing, or higher protein thing... nothing! I read a lot of places that a higher fat diet works better for some people so think I'll try going in that direction... give it a week or two and see how I feel. I that doesn't work then I'll play around with a higher protein diet. I just gotta find what works for me!

Vegas tip to looking smaller than you actually are:

Stand next to food and drinks that are WAY bigger than normal.

Sorry about the gain, but you are still doing so so very good that you just cannot let it get you down! kay?

Ahhh Vegas. Dh & I were married there & have visited a few times so we have a special place for it in our hearts.
Those plates are huge!! lol
I recognize those big ol' drinks in the last photo. There is a margarita place near the M&M museum that makes a darn fine (huge) margarita...and if you drink it & then go thru the aquarium @ Mandalay Bay...it is extra fun. ;)

'Nuff about me - I think you're right on the calorie couting. I do it now but do not plan on doing it forever...I'm just not wired that way.

Best of luck finding what works for you!

Dude, you went to Vegas, had a blast, downed some big ass drinks, and ate some crappy food. It is what we all do when in Vegas! I lost three days once in Vegas, seriously can't even remember them!! Don't be so hard on yourself. We all need to cut loose and not care sometimes. Put it behind you and just keep moving forward and do what you do.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...and it ain't broke.

I'd support you regardless, though. You really do know how to do this.

I hear what you're saying. It's definitely tough. And the fact that you're aware of things like calorie deficits and your eating habits shows that you have already changed your lifestyle. It's a work in progress. You are chugging along so well, look how far you've come! Baby steps!

BTW, Those dishes are fricken huge. Seriously.

You know, only a 1.4 lb gain after all that time in LV enjoying yourself is actually pretty good. I totally agree with Jeff... that's what we do in LV.

Oh, btw, those were some awesome plates. Have you ever gone to Mac 24 in Waikiki and taken a look at the massive pancakes?

I'm glad you had fun in Vegas. I think it's totally unrealistic to compare your success or lack thereof in Vegas to normal life. Vegas is the anti health. I'm pretty sure that's what it actually means. Look it up. :) haha JK. No but really, going to Vegas is pure gluttony in all it's beauty. I wouldn't consider changing what has been working for you for how long now just because you show a 1.4lb gain after the gluttonous paradise took you to your knees. And...I'm willing to bet that if you get your butt back to work and back to your normal routine, that 1.4 lbs will be gone by next week. It's lots of sodium and sugar and grossness that your body isn't use to so it's going to hold onto it until you tell it that it was just a fluke.

I second the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" plan.

Keep your head up, no stress. Smile more. Be happy. You can do this! :)

Oh, and if you do decide to go with the higher fat diet, keep it under 30% of your daily intake or you'll start flirting with cholesterol problems because we tend to crave more saturated fats when we eat higher fat diets. Just FYI from all the wonderful studying I've been doing. ;)
