P90X Day 2/90: Plyometrics; diet: Y

Today was plyo and I loved it! Kept up with Tony and the "kids" through all the exercises, even though I had to go on my own slower pace on some of them. I really liked it because even though all the exercises were pretty simple to follow, they are ALL really high-intensity... this less-than-an-hour workout gave me the same calorie burn as an hour long run would have. My only problem with plyo is that the moves are pretty high-impact as well. I have a history of shin splints and doing the Hot Foot exercise really started to stress it out. It's a pretty easy problem to fix though, since I have shin braces I can wear, but I also feel like it's tough on my knees. Especially the Rock Star jump exercise. This was my first time trying this dvd so I know it will get easier on my joints as my body gets used to it AND as I lose weight AND as I learn how to properly land on the moves. I workout on carpet with shoes on so I know this helps tremendously but anything to help prolong the life of my knees would be awesome.

Anyway, overall I really liked plyo because getting a really good cardio workout makes me feel like a million bucks after. I totally can't wait to see my progress here also!

Still BRINGING IT!

Lianne - I am getting so excited about this program as I read your posts! I am really considering the purchase but I want to wait until I am at least on week 1 of Lean because I want to stick out the 12 weeks with CLX. Beachbody is such a wonderful site because there is never an end to fitness - always room to keep improving. When I did the 12 week Body for Life program it was so intense and so restrictive that to make it through 12 weeks was a miracle and to consider a second round was seemingly impossible. I think the true difference is all the different exercises they have that helps muscles all over the body develop - not just the basic body builder curls or bench press - etc....

I also have trouble with high impact exercise and I splurged on a more expensive shoe and it has made a world of difference for me. Nike Women's Shox Experience + Running Shoe My problem is more with my feet but I have not had shin splints since!

Great job - keep bringing it!

I know exactly what you mean. During the first few weeks when I did Plyometrics, I would wake up the night after with horrible cramps in my calves and quads. My only suggestion is to stretch out a bit more after during cooldown. Yes, the cooldown time is sufficient, but even at my weight ~145 lbs, I was still getting it. Plus remember to drink your water! Take care.

Wow, you are doing so great! The Hot Foot exercise was one that really hurt me, too. I've sprained both ankles twice each, and get terrible shin splints that I've been dealing with ever since I started my Couch 2 5K program. I started to use a jump rope for Hot Foot, and manage to keep my heart rate up and not cool down. The Rock Star jumps hurt the girls more than anything, if you know what I mean! Haha...

great job, when my wife does her rock star jumps I have to hold her guitar for her so she can hold "the girls" :)
